There are plenty of great gift ideas out there, but when you are dealing with a motorcycle rider, you will probably find yourself in an entirely different school of thought. What does this mean for you exactly? To be perfectly honest, it actually means a great number of things, though mostly that you will need to buy motorcycle themed gifts. This doesn’t mean purchasing a miniature motorcycle for them to put on display — your motorcycle riding friend or relative will probably not be amused by such a gesture. Rather, you should try to ensure you buy them something that they need — something functional that will add to their experience.

As you probably know, buying something that they need can be a bit difficult, but there are a few things that you will need to keep in mind when you are making any type of motorcycle related purchase:

Don’t buy cheap — There is a strong chance that they already have a higher quality version of that item sitting around. If you buy them something cheap, they may feel insulted, and they will more than likely stuff it in the back of a closet.

Replacement items are great — Motorcycle merchandise is just like anything else, and with that being the case it wouldn’t hurt to make sure that your rider has a spare helmet. If you must do so, then make sure you buy them one that matches their current model as they have likely already chosen one that they specifically like.

Ask an expert — If you are not knowledgeable regarding motorcycle related items, then you will need to ask for help. This is not an area that you want to make random guesses in, which is something that many people fail to remember.

There are plenty of gifts that you can purchase for your rider, for instance is sunglasses or even goggles. These will help to protect the eyes from the hazards of the road, and will help to keep the sun out of the rider’s eyes. It is recommended that eye wear be used with a face shield at all times, but this is something that will need to be tended to by the rider.

Something that many people tend to overlook are saddle bags, and these are of the utmost importance. Motorcycles do not have the same storage capacity as cars, but that doesn’t mean you won’t need to tote items from place to place. Saddlebags are a great investment for any rider, especially if they have overlooked them as well.

Clothing items are just as important as any other, and a rider cannot have too much of this. Whether you are buying scarves or protective clothing items, know that riding on a motorcycle is much different than riding in a car, and as such will require a much different wardrobe.

Buying motorcycle gifts like motorcycle goggles does not have to be difficult, but it is important that you do so with a bit of knowledge. That knowledge will go a long way, and ultimately make your rider very happy!

Vacations are fun, to say the least. Who could say otherwise? When you combine vacations with skiing however, you get something that is even more fun! With that being the case, it would most certainly be to your benefit to take a look at the various ski resorts around the world, and of course see what is available to you. Today we are going to discuss a few of the more popular ski resorts in Europe so that you might plan the vacation of a lifetime.

Italy — Italy is an extremely popular vacation destination, sitting between Africa and modern day Europe, you can be sure to experience a rich culture on your next vacation. There are a few ski resorts in the country, and we will be discussing two of them today:

Ski Piemonte (Piedmont) — Piedmont has excellent mountains which provides for a number of different winter sports. Because of the diversity of the slopes and mountains, it is no surprise that both beginners and experts alike have plenty of fun here. Piedmont has a total of 53 different ski resorts and 1300 kilometers of runs. In addition to being a great area, it was also the home of the 2006 Winter Olympics, which should tell you something about it’s viability as a ski resort.

Courmayeur(Mont Blanc) — Near Monte Bianco, or Monte Blanc, you will find an excellent ski resort with a maximum elevation of 2763 meters, sitting just 153 kilometers from the Turin airport. Overall, the skiing is more suited to the intermediate, but there are some more advanced runs. Those who are feeling adventurous can easily cross the border into France.

France — France will always be an extremely popular destination whether you want to view the incredible cityscapes or take a look at the breathtaking ski destinations. Skiing has truly become an international sport, and you can’t say you have conquered the tradition until you have slid upon the slopes of France.

Chamonix (Par of Mont Blanc) — This is a slightly different type of ski resort as it is capable of making its own snow. With 96 snow cannons it is more than capable of providing 23 kilometers of ski runs, allowing for a truly incredible experience. With the right lift pass, you can ski or snowboard through not only Chamonix, but several other ski resorts in the area.

Luchon (Superbagneres) — 35 kilometers of downhill skiing should be more than enough to attract most people, and with the majority of the skiing experiences existing above 2000 meters, there is always plenty of snow cover. The ski lift can lift up to 15,000 skiers per hour, ensuring that you won’t have any problem getting to the top.

Spain — A popular vacation destination on the Iberian peninsula, bordered by the Mediterranean sea. Many do not consider Spain to be a potential ski destination, but you will be surprised to learn that there are actually a few great resort areas.

Baqueria-Beret (Catalan Pyrenees) — In Spain, this could easily be considered one of the largest and most popular resorts. There are slopes and courses here for individuals of all skill levels.

Formigal (Aragon Pyrenees) — This isn’t the most advanced course, and it isn’t the most lively at nighttime, but it does boast an excellent area for newcomers and families alike.

These are a few great skiing destinations and resorts that you might consider when you’re booking a trip to Europe. Now would be a great time to start planning your trip and making sure you have all your gear, especially your ski goggles and ski clothing ready for the trip!

Japan remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Many will be of the impression that visiting Japan is best in the summer because this is the most active time of the year for vacation activities. Anyone with this impression might be surprised to discover wintertime offers active sportive opportunities in Japan. Yes, you would be correct if you guessed Japan is one of the most perfect destinations for skiing and snowboarding.

Snow does not begin to fall in Japan until October. December is when the season begins and the high season for skiing and snowboarding will be around January and February. The winter sport season will remain in effect until about April when the warmer months put an end to winter.

There are quite a number of different towns and localities where ski resorts are located. The two most popular locations would be Hokkaido and Nagano. This should not come as a surprise since both of these sites were picked for previous Winter Olympics games.

One thing that needs to be understood about skiing and snowboarding in Japan is that skiing is still the more commonly catered to sport. This is not due to any bias. Rather, as in other parts of the world, snowboarding is a relatively new sport. Most resorts will cater to the traditional sport of skiing and considering older vacationers will lean more towards skiing vs. snowboarding this is understandable. However, snowboarding in Japan has certainly experienced a boost in popularity due to the respect the sport has garnered due to its inclusion in the Olympics. Many ski resorts in Japan have been revamped so that they can accommodate snowboarders. The inclusion of half pipes at many resorts is clear evidence of this.

Those traveling to Japan probably are curious about the costs of a resort pass. $50 – $60 per day would be the common price to pay at a major ski resort. Smaller resorts would commonly have lower fees.

Most travelers will likely look towards acquiring passes that extend beyond a single day. Such needs can be easily accommodated. Weekly, monthly, and even seasonal passes can be purchased. Travelers may also wish to purchase different passes from different resorts since this will give them the opportunity to visit more than one resort. One of the most enjoyable aspects of visiting Japan involves….visiting Japan! In other words, you do not want to feel locked into a single resort in a single region of Japan since there are so many amazing sites to see and ski slopes to explore in the vast country. You won’t want to forget your snowboarding goggles while in Japan.

One way to make it easier to explore the Japanese skiing experience would be to sign on with a tour package. Guided tours ensure you do not miss out on any special destinations when you want to see all that Japan has to offer in the realm of skiing and snowboarding. More importantly, however, a guided trip can make your vacation much easier since everything is planned out in advance by the touring service.

Regardless of how you plan out your visit to Japan, you need to put those plans into motion. Japan is a fantastic ski region. Consider it a must visit country if you are a serious skiing enthusiast.

Motorcycles carry a huge level of prestige with them, and the individuals that ride them develop a kind of sense of community with their fellow riders. Everything from Harley Davidson to Kawasaki have their place in this close knit community of motorcyclists, and no matter what they prefer to ride, they stick together, and have a mutual level of respect and a love for the open road. This love of the open road doesn’t mean that motorcyclist’s don’t have a love for all the available bells and whistles. Motorcycle manufacturers and auto accessory companies have taken notice and are making gadgets and gizmos that can ensure your motorcycle ride is smoother, more fun and best of all, more comfortable than ever.

One of the more popular things in today’s world of mobile travel is the GPS device. These are already put to a lot of use in cars, some coming built in as well as being sold separately. Most cars have plenty of available space for positioning GPS devices, however the motorcycle doesn’t have that convenience of extra space, so they have to be mounted directly onto the front console. Luckily, more recently, there are now smaller GPS devices on the market that can be easily mounted, or even built into helmets, delivering an easy to use interface. These GPS devices give the drivers added protection as they navigate whatever terrain or roads they might be traveling on one of their many adventures. Often these GPS devices have hook ups directly to your helmet to tell you when to turn, and useful information when attempting to get to your destination.

Everyone knows about the whole cell phone while driving controversy, however now you can purchase a variety of hands free phones and gadgets. Luckily, this is no problem for today’s motorcyclist, as they can now have a headset and phone wired directly into their helmets. Most of these are voice activated so you are able to call and control your phone, hands free. It is a major convenience that works effortlessly with the gear you are already going to be wearing.

Another thing motorcyclists have been denied for years is the ability to listen to music comfortably. Speakers annoy those around you and often are hard to hear, and many of the hook ups to your helmet can be a pain to wear. Today with the wireless options available, and even radio streaming, you can enjoy your music right from your helmet. It can play from your mp3 player, your phone, streaming radio or what have you. Many of these wireless headset hookups have no lag time and stream the music seamlessly into your helmet for you to enjoy. You won’t want to forget to bring along your motorcycle sunglasses though! You won’t want to forget to bring along your motorcycle sunglasses though!

Slowly but surely, motorcycles are catching up to cars in the way of luxurious options. No longer do you have to sacrifice all the comforts of a car for that feeling of freedom and excitement that comes with riding a motorcycle.

Just because summer is over, school is starting and the leaves are changing doesn’t mean that you have to stop doing things outside. There are plenty of things to do outside in the fall, so you can extend your outdoor fun as long as you want to.

One thing that you can do is go out and enjoy nature’s bounty. You can find an apple orchard nearby. Most of them let you pick your own apples. You can take your children with you, if you have them, or do it by yourself. Most orchards have more than one variety of apple, so you will be able to get a kind that you really like. Stop at the orchard store afterward and pick up some fresh cider. You can also try picking pumpkins. Pumpkins make great fall decorations, and of course, you have to have them for Halloween. You can wander around and find the perfect pumpkin. Orchards and pumpkin patches often also offer things like hayrides or outdoor mazes.

If your idea of enjoying nature leans more towards driving through it than being out in it, go out leaf peeping. While there are some places that are famous for their colors, most states have some place that you can go to admire the leaves. Take a whole day and get lost out in the great outdoors. Take a picnic and find some place where you can sit and eat it. If you have kids let them go out and collect some leaves. There are all kinds of craft projects you can do later with those leaves to help you remember the day.

There are many places where summer weather just makes it too uncomfortable to do a lot outside. But the cooler fall weather makes it an ideal time to go out and check things out. If you have a state park or national park nearby go outside and take a hike. Parks have trails that come in a variety of difficulties, or you can see if they have mountain bike trails and take a nice ride. Fall is a great time to go camping too. Fall makes those campfires really enjoyable. Just make sure that your camping gear is three season rated, for any chilly nights.

Motorcycle riding in the fall is also a fun activity, just don’t forget your motorcycle goggles.

If you are a sports fan, fall is great for you too. Football is going full blast. It doesn’t matter if you have a professional team in your area, you can still enjoy going to a game. Check out your local high school or college and watch a game. No team is ever going to turn away another spectator. Plus, high school games are fairly inexpensive, so it’s something you can do on a budget. Or get your friends together and play football in the park.

The cooler temperatures of fall don’t mean you have to stop your outdoor activities. Autumn just brings more things for you to do and enjoy in the great outdoors.

Motorcycle travel with kids can be done very safely if you research well before setting off. You will need to understand the risks that are involved and how you can ensure that the trip is safe and fun for everyone. Taking the right precautions before you set off on your journey will ensure that you have planned for every event.

The prospect of taking your children out on your motorcycle may seem daunting, however, if you prepare well it can be a great experience for everyone. When your children see you having fun on your motorcycle, there will come a time when they ask to ride. Many parents seem to find this a shock; however, it is perfectly natural that your child will want to spend time with you doing what you enjoy.

Not being prepared is often when the accidents happen, and the child has a bad experience on the motorcycle. You cannot suddenly decide that you are going to take your child out on the motorcycle without the correct helmet and preparation. It may be tempting to place your child on the front of the motorcycle; however, this is a bad idea. If you suddenly had to brake, your instincts would be to grab for your child, which could result in you losing control.

It is often advised that a child should not ride on the back of a motorcycle until they can reach they foot pegs correctly. This age will vary between children depending on how tall they are and the design and make of the motorcycle. The age in which you allow your child to ride as a passenger will also need to be determined by how confident they are. A nervous passenger can be a nightmare no matter what age they are.

As soon as your child is tall enough and confident enough to become a passenger, you will need to ensure that you find the correct apparel. You need to wear the right clothing and safety apparel when on the motorcycle, therefore, so does your child. There is not a great deal of choice for children; however, you need to find a helmet which fits correctly. Off road helmets can be worn; however, you may need to purchase goggles or motorcycle sunglasses separately.

Your child is likely to complain at having to wear the helmet as they can feel very restricting; however, you do need to be strict and ensure that the helmet is always worn. The subject of how your child will hold on is a huge one that many parents struggle to find the solution. However, there are now several manufacturers that are designing buddy belts and harnesses to enable the rider to strap their child in place ensuring they cannot simply slip off.

You need to ensure that you discuss with your children the importance of the safety aspects of riding with you on the motorcycle. If they grow up understanding how important the safety side of the event is, they are more likely to become safe riders themselves. Many children who experience motorcycling at an early age will go on to own their own motorcycle in the future.

Off-roading has become one of the most popular summer sports in the world, thanks to the fact that many ATVs are now easily affordable. Off-roading can be loads of fun, but it can also be incredibly dangerous. There are a few things that you need to know about being careful while off-roading, things that can save your life as you have fun going through rough terrain in your ATV.

Safety Gear

The most important thing to remember is that safety is the most important thing. If you aren’t well protected, you can get yourself into a serious accident. Eye goggles are one of the most important pieces of safety gear to wear, as they can protect your eyes from flying rocks and dust that could cause you to go blind. Using a safety helmet is also vital, as it will protect you from a head injury if you get into an accident. Wearing the right body armor and suit will help to keep you from any serious injuries to your chest, as well as from tearing up the skin of your legs and arms. Never go off-roading without the correct safety gear.

Be Wary of Stunts

Just because you have ridden an ATV for a few months or years doesn’t mean you are ready to do stunts yet. Unless you have some serious stunts training, avoid doing crazy things that can land you in the hospital. A surprising number of people have died or gotten seriously injured thanks to their trying to do something crazy or showing off to their friends.

Learn to Ride Properly

Riding an ATV may look easy when doing it on a track or the road, but off-roading can be extremely dangerous. If your ATV, dirt bike, or mountain bike flips, your injuries can range from broken bones to death, a permanent condition. Consider taking a class or getting tips from an expert before venturing out.

Not all Paths are Crossable

Just because you are riding a dirt bike or ATV doesn’t mean that you can go everywhere. There will be terrain that will be impassable, and you need to accept that. Avoid getting into mud or waterholes, even if you think your bike or ATV can take it. Above all, avoid any paths that you know have dangerous drop offs or end near cliffs. As mentioned above, just because you can go off-road and into rough and rugged places, doesn’t mean you have to.

Keep Your Vehicle in Good Shape

If you let the condition of your vehicle decline, you could end up getting seriously hurt. Old tires won’t grip the road well, and worn out brakes won’t allow you to stop in time. A used chassis will cause the ride to be extremely bumpy, and an unchecked motor can leave you stranded out in the middle of nowhere. Keeping your vehicle in good shape is a vital part of staying safe while off-roading.

Don’t forget to protect your eyes with some off road goggles!

Summer time is here, and it’s time to hit the mountain again. Thousands of people who would never hit a mountain in the snow and winter make the trek to their nearest mountain in the summer, just to have some fun in the sun. There are dozens of summer mountain sports that you can enjoy, some of them far less conventional than others.

Mountain Biking

For those who love to get on their bikes and ride into the middle of nowhere, mountain biking is the perfect summer mountain sport. Rather than simply taking a ride through a placid countryside, why not test yourself to the limit as you cycle up and down steep mountain trails, walk your bike over rivers, and push yourself to the limit of your endurance. You may find that mountain biking is the perfect summer challenge for you.

Hiking and Trekking

Do you love walking among nature, basking in the peace and tranquility of a forest or desert? Mountain hiking or trekking can be the perfect adventure for you this summer, and you can explore hidden areas of the mountain that no one else has even seen. Taking a hike through the backwoods and hills of your local mountain area will give you the perfect sense of peace and relaxation as you enjoy the wonders of nature.

Rock Climbing

Are you looking to test your endurance and live on the edge this summer? If so, rock climbing can be the perfect sport for you. Use every muscle in your body as you strain to climb tough paths, and stare out at the world around you in sheer awe from the top of the mountain as you revel in the feeling of success that you have achieved through climbing.

Water Sports

There is nothing quite as much fun as enjoying the fresh water of a cold lake under the blazing summer sun. Rafting is one of the best water sports if you live near a river, and tubing can thrill you as you speed behind a boat. You may enjoy kayaking on a placid lake, or you can thrill to the feeling of the lake zipping beneath your feet as you water ski, jet ski or wakeboard.

Camping

Few things can bring a family together as a weekend camping trip, and taking your family extreme camping can be the best way to form a close bond. Extreme camping consist of bringing as little as possible from civilization, which forces you to work hard to find food, shelter, water, and other necessities. If you want to test your nature skills, extreme camping is the way to do it.

Rock Skiing

While skiing on snow has been around for centuries, rock skiing has only just come into popularity. If you love to ski, you may find that rock skiing is the perfect summer adventure for you. No more bundling up against the cold as you ski; it’s just you and your skis against the mountainside. Nothing gets more extreme than rock skiing.

Don’t forget your polarized sunglasses.

If you’re a motorcycle enthusiast and you’ve always wanted to learn more about motorcycle rallies, stay tuned because you’re about to learn all about the most popular rallies. You’ll learn about the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the Daytona Bike Week Rally, and the Laconia Motorcycle Week in New Hampshire.

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is one of the most well known rallies in the US. It is held in the city of Sturgis, South Dakota. The rally takes you through some of the most amazing roads and destinations. Some of them include Iron Road Mountain, Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon, Mouth Rushmore National Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Bea Butte State Park, and more.

Every year they have a bike show and the top companies show off their new models. They also have celebrities and musical performers often show up. The town is known for their hospitality and there are many attractions, restaurants, and hotels you can stay in. The rally has some special events from purchasing your own message for the city brick project and an exclusive ride with the mayor.

The Daytona Bike Week is held on Daytona Beach in Florda. This event has a long history dating all the way back to 1937. Today, it is one of most popular rallies and now is a 10-day festival where hundreds of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts gather every year.

The Daytona Bike Week is more of an event rather than a rally because it invites locals and non bikers alike. You can enjoy all the accommodations that are available to visitors and really make it sort of like a beach vacation in addition to the rally. Keep your eyes peeled for The Loop trail, the chopper shows, and even cole slaw wrestling events.

The Laconia Motorcycle Week is amongst the most popular rallies. The festival takes place in New Hampshire with 300,000 to 400,000 bikers attending every year. This even features everything from live music, road tours, cook offs, and biker build-offs.

What makes the Laconia Motorcycle Week interesting is that many people go to enjoy the camping grounds. There are many camping grounds you can visit from the New Hampshire Seacoast, Merrimack Valley Region, and the Lakes Region. These grounds have some of the most stunning sites and you should use the guides to plan your trip.

There are many vacation homes you can rent as well as hotels you can rent near the event site as well as near the camping grounds. What many people riders like about Laconia Motorcycle Week is that there are many charity events so you can ride for an important cause. Be sure to check out the different types of motorcycle glasses people are wearing, always fun!

So those are some of the most popular motorcycle rallies in the US. If you’re an enthusiast and want to attend any of these rallies, you should visit the official site for the rally you plan on going to. They provide you with all the information you need on activities, hotels, events, and more.

Basking in the sun feels great, and it helps your body produce vitamin D, which plays a role in preventing depression, osteoporosis, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. However, exposing yourself to strong ultraviolet (UV) rays without proper protection can be extremely harmful to your skin and body. In recent years, research has shown that exposure to ultraviolet rays such as UVA and UVB can lead to skin cancer and eye damage. Fortunately, that doesn’t mean that you need to give up fun in the sun altogether. You just have to protect yourself from these harmful rays at all times.

Put on sunscreen every time you go out, especially when you are at the beach, in which case you might have to reapply it every couple of hours or after swimming. Sunscreen, or sunblock, protects your skin by absorbing or reflecting ultraviolet radiation that can lead to sunburn. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, 90% of non-melanoma skin cancers and 65% of melanoma cases are linked with exposure to harmful UV radiation from the sun. A recent study found that using sunscreen regularly can cut the risk for developing melanoma in half. Taking the time to put on sunscreen can save your life, so be sure to apply it regularly, even if you do not think you’ll be spending a lot of time outside.

Wearing sunscreen is not the only way you can protect yourself from ultraviolet radiation. You can also wear hats and protective clothing that can shield you from sun damage. The best type of hat to wear when spending time in the sun is a wide-brimmed hat that will protect your skin and eyesight. You can also buy clothes specifically designed to block dangerous UV light. Protective clothing is measured by the ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) that reflects how much UV radiation the fabric absorbs.

In addition to taking care of your skin, don’t forget to protect your eyesight. Wide-brimmed hats are not enough to prevent eye damage that can be caused by strong UV rays. Look for sophisticated sun protection specifically developed to protect your eyesight such as polarized sunglasses. Polarized sunglasses not only protect your eyes from UV radiation, but also reduce glare that can strain them. Most people don’t realize that their eyesight deserves the same attention when it comes to sun protection as their skin. Over time, exposure to sunlight can damage your eyesight and surrounding skin, lead to loss of vision, and contribute to conditions ranging from cataracts to eyelid cancers. Protecting your eyes from the sun is essential to maintaining a healthy vision throughout your life.

Spending time in the warm sunlight feel fantastic, but it can also be extremely dangerous if you don’t properly protect yourself from harmful UV radiation. To reduce risks associated with sunlight exposure, protect your skin with sunscreen and special protective clothing. Don’t forget to take care of your eyes as well by wearing polarized sunglasses that will shield your eyesight from damaging rays. Enjoy the sun, but don’t forget to actively protect your skin and eyes from UV light damage.
